Our History - Lighting is in our DNA!
Platinum Lighting was founded in September 2000 by Larry and Judi Walley. You might say that the lighting business is in our DNA. Larry’s maternal grandfather founded a Los Angles based Electrical Distribution Company in 1944. The business was known as Jarvis Electric Supply Company (“Jarvis Electric”) was a fixture in the Los Angeles Area for over fifty five years until it was sold to a large nationwide Electrical Distribution Company. Jarvis Electric specialized in selling electrical, lighting and switch gear products to electrical contractors throughout the Southern California area. Additionally, the company sold to Hardware Store, Home Centers and other D-I-Y outlets throughout California, Arizona and Nevada.
Larry grew up in the business and spent all of his formative years prior to graduating from USC learning every aspect of the Electrical and D-I-Y industry. Upon graduation from the USC Marshall School of Business he got a job as a management trainee at Union Bank in Downtown Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. He spent 11 years as a Commercial Loan and Real Estate Construction lender rising to the position of Vice President.
In 1994 he decided to leave the Banking Industry and rejoin the family business where he brought all his talents and started a division that sold to Home Builders and Multi-family developers. In June of 2000 Jarvis Electric was sold and Larry was hired to run the business for a $3 Billion national chain.
In September of 2000 he left Jarvis Electric and using his Entrepreneurial skills learned at USC he co-founded Platinum Lighting, LLC. They have completed 7500 Multi-family and Single Family Units for Companies such as Avalon Bay, BRE, CIM Group and Fairfield Residential. In the last several years they have started doing Commercial, Industrial, Office and Retail Projects throughout Southern California. No job is too big or too small.
Our Philosophy and Mission
We specialize in providing Quality Lighting Fixtures and Electrical Supplies to Multi-Family Apartment Communities, Single Family Home Developers, Electrical and General Contractors as well, the Hospitality Industry.
We provide expertise to markets that we serve with over 30 years experience in the Electrical and Lighting Industry. We have provided a complete lighting package for over 100 Multi Family Apartment Communities totaling over 40,000 apartment units.
Additionally, we have completed numerous Single Family Home Tracts, Custom Homes, Hotels and Extended Stay as well as Assisted Living and Senior Housing.
Our lighting package can include every single light on the entire project including unit lighting, Commercial and Decorative lighting in the leasing office, Site, Building and Parking Lot lighting on Poles up to 30 Ft in length. We have completed jobs in California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Florida, Maryland and Massachusetts.
